Director Johnpaul George is just one movie old, but the young filmmaker won accolades from the audience in Kerala for his debut directorial venture Guppy, starring Tovino Thomas and Chetan Jayalal in the lead roles.

Though the movie failed to become a commercial success due to the poor reception in theatres in the state, it opened to a tremendous response after its DVD release. Following this, the makers even had plans to re-release the movie, but that didn't happen. Now, Johnpaul has announced his second project through a Facebook post, and interestingly, the film stars young actor Nivin Pauly in the main role.

The upcoming movie will be bankrolled by Sameer Thahir, with whom Johnpaul worked in Chaappa Kurishu, 5 Sundarikal and Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi. It is expected to do a rocking business, thanks to Johnpaul's association with Sameer and Nivin, who have been tagged among the hitmakers in Mollywood with back-to-back hits. The movie will start rolling next year and cinematographer Girish Gangadharan and musician Vishnu Vijay will once again join hands with Johnpaul after Guppy.

"Thank you for all the love that you have given for 'Guppy'. Here's announcing my new venture and I am delighted to team up with Nivin Pauly this time. Sameer Thahir, my guru, is producing the movie launching his banner Sameer Thahir Productions, along with my production banner. I am in the process of writing the script right now and hope to start shooting mid next year. More details about the project will follow [sic]," the filmmaker announced on his social media page.

Meanwhile, Nivin will next be seen in Sidhartha Siva's Sakhavu, Althaf Salim's debut directorial venture Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela, Gautham Ramachandran's Tamil project tentatively titled Santa Maria, Prabhu Radhakrishnan's directorial venture to be produced by 24AM Studios, Atlee Kumar's former associate director Suryaa Balakumaran's next, and Shyamaprasad's yet-to-be-titled film with Trisha. The movies have been lined up for 2017.
