Swedish automaker Volvo announced the launch of its all-new XC60 SUV in India on Tuesday, December 12. It was unveiled at Geneva International Motor Show this year and is priced at Rs 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new XC60 replaces the original XC60 in India. At the heart of the new XC60 is D5 with PowerPulse technology that can churn out 235hp of power and 480 Nm torque coupled with an 8-Speed gearbox with paddle shifts.

In the global market, the XC60 also gets T8 Twin engine petrol plug-in hybrid mill that develops 407 hp, petrol-powered T5 that delivers 254hp and the T6, which with both turbo and superchargers attached delivers 320hp and 400Nm of torque. The SUV gets five types of drive modes – Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-Road and Individual.

The new XC60 carried over design elements from the XC90 such as Thor's hammer inspired headlamps, large grille and angular tail lamp. The interior is a composition of luxury and beautiful use of materials and gets nappa leather fine wood along the dashboard that boasts of a 9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen. The SUV also boasts of smartphone integration with CarPlay and Android Auto accessibility.

"The XC60 is not only one of our largest selling models globally but has been received well in India too. In fact, it makes up almost a third of our total sales here. We are confident that the all new XC60 with its segment defining features, modern Scandinavian design and luxury will prove to be an attractive proposition for customers replicating its predecessor's success," said Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India.

The new XC60 also boasts of some new safety options. Steer Assist has been added to the City Safety system. A new safety system called Oncoming Lane Mitigation uses steer assist to help mitigate head-on collisions, while Blind Spot Indication System (BLIS) now uses Steer Assist functionality to reduce the risk of lane-changing collisions.

The Special Launch Version XC60 Inscription includes Tech Pack comes in 4 exterior colours – Crystal White Pearl; Black Max; Havana Brown & Pine Grey with 3 interior colour options – Amber, Maroon Brown or Blond.
