The American smartphone maker, Motorola, has released a stability update to the new Moto G (Gen 2) in select global markets including India.

"We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto G (2nd Generation) by Motorola. This update brings the Google Now Launcher as well as a few bug fixes for your new Moto G," said the Motorola official support page.

The new update (build number: v21.11.23 ), which is 120 MB plus in size reportedly makes the Google Now app as the default phone launcher and fixes some bugs as well.

[Note: Since the new firmware is released in phases, it will take some time to reach all corner of India.]

Moto G (Gen 2.) owners can check for updates (OTA: Over-The-Air) on your phones:

Go to >> Settings >> Above Phone >>System Updates

Then, select Download and initiate Install. Once the process is completed, the phone re-boots and gets updated v21.11.23.

[Note: Users are advised to use Wi-Fi to download the update for smooth installation experience]

It has to be noted, this update is just a maintenance update for Moto G (Gen 2.). Later, probably in two months time, the phone is slated to get major OS update, Android L.

The Android L OS update is expected to improve efficiency and performance of the smartphone.

Google has reportedly made a paradigm shift in the internal coding of the upcoming Android L OS, beginning with replacement of Dalvik with ART as its default runtime.

With this change, the new Android OS is expected to become twice as efficient compared to previous versions, more simpler and create a consistent experience across mobile and the web with material design, the new Google-wide standard.
