Ford India has launched the Figo Aspire sedan and Figo hatchback apart from opening its new manufacturing unit in Gujarat. The game plan for 2015 seems to have been not to launch the new Endeavour SUV, reports Oncars.com.

The report says that contrary to the speculated launch during the ongoing Diwali season, Ford plans to launch the updated SUV in January 2016. The new Endeavour will be the first vehicle launch in 2016 for Ford India, followed by the Ford Mustang sedan, which is expected to be launched in the first quarter next year.

The updated SUV has been listed as 'future SUV' on the manufacturer's website. The new Endeavour is a full-sized seven-seater SUV in its third generation, which is globally known as Everest.

In its third generation, the Endeavour takes deviation from the typical boxy design of the previous generation and has a more rounded design. The new design has taken cues from the 2015 Ford Edge crossover and hence is more athletic and gives the SUV a fresh face. The spare wheel at the rear has made way to the inside of the vehicle, helping shorten the length.

The Ford India website talks about the 3.2-litre TDCi diesel without any details on the 2.2-litre diesel engine. The former is expected to churn out 197bhp of power and will be mated to 6-speed automatic transmission. The SUV has been developed on a new ladder-on-frame chassis and will also feature new independent coil-spring at the rear wheels.

The new Endeavour will get the Terrain management system. The system has the total of 4 modes (normal mode, snow, grass and mud mode) to suit the various driving terrains. The New Ford Endeavour is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 22 to Rs 25 lakh.
