Google's new operating system Android 6.0 Marshmallow is all set to be released along with LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6 (2015), perhaps on 29 September. Motorola's budget smartphones from Moto G series will receive the new software, but a bit late.

Motorola will roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its devices like Moto X Style (aka Moto X Pure Edition in US), Moto X Play, Moto X (2014), and Droid Turbo (aka Moto Turbo in India) by the end of December 2015 or early 2016 but Moto G (2nd Gen), and Moto G (3rd Gen) are expected to get it much later.

According to a report by TechGadgetCentral, the Moto G series should get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update in the next few months. Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll out should happen only by January or February next year. It is still not sure if the original Moto G will get the new firmware.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to be released to Google's devices like Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player first as in the case of its developer previews roll out. The firmware is then expected to be made available to other android phones.

It is reported that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will improve battery life of devices.
