If there is one feature that most users of the original Nexus 5 are disappointed with, it is the handset's battery, but Google does not appear to be taking it seriously. This is because its upcoming smartphone, the Nexus 5 (2015) and also known as Nexus 5X, is expected to come without much improvement on the battery front.

There are conflicting reports on the specifications of the Nexus 5 (2015) aka Nexus 5X. Reports have it that the device will come with a 5.2-inch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3 GB RAM, 13 MP rear camera, 2 MP secondary snapper, fingerprint sensor and Android Pay.

According to GizmoChina, it will will house 64 GB internal memory, 4 GB RAM, non-removable 3180 mAh battery, 13 MP main camera, and 4 MP front snapper, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2., and USB Type-C connector.

Well, a 3,180 mAh battery will be a huge improvement from 2,300 mAh seen in the original Nexus 5 but Android Police claimed in a report, citing sources, that it will come with only 2700 mAh battery. It went on to say that the device will feature a 5.2-inch screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 16/32 GB internal storage, 3 GB RAM, 12.3 MP main camera, 5 MP front snapper, and USB-Type C.

If the upcoming smartphone comes with a 2700 mAh battery as reported, the only hope Nexus fans can have is Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google's new operating system that is expected to improve battery life of devices that run on it.

Battery standby time of LG Nexus 5 (2013) increased by almost three times when it ran on first developer preview of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, according to German blog Computerbase (via 9to5 Google). [Read Full Report on Android 6.0 Marshmallow]

The new software is also expected to boost battery life of the Nexus 5 (2015) aka Nexus 5X drastically, and if not, Nexus fans will be left disappointed.

Google hasn't revealed the release date of the Nexus 5 (2015) but sources said that it will be unveiled along with Huawei Nexus 6 (2015) on 29 September and will be up for pre-orders on 13 October. Android Authority has reported, citing sources, that it will be priced at around $399 for the 16 GB model and $449 for the 32 GB model.
