The design seems to be a combination of Mahindra Bolero, Quanto and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The front-end seems to be evolved from the Bolero and the vertical five slat grill part gives the vehicle a rough and tough look.

The beefed up wheel arches along with raised ground clearance reinforces the idea of utility vehicle, which Mahindra is known for.

The design of the rear quarter has high influence of the Quanto. In fact, the rear design seems to be lifted from the Quanto with minor tweaks. Typical to the SUVs in the market, the vehicle sports a boxy design. The Compact SUV will feature a flat roof, roof rails, short overhangs, body-coloured door handles, door mirrors and bumpers.

Previously known as U301, the vehicle will be built on an all-new platform. Mahindra claims the design of the compact SUV has been inspired by the battle tank.

A ground-up project of the Mahindra design team, the TUV300 will feature a new mHawk80 engine, which is expected to be an updated version of the Quanto's 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel motor.

Despite being a sub 4-metre SUV, the TUV300 will be a seven-seater with the last row featuring two jump seats facing each other. The compact SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 7 lakh.
