After a long break, ABC's "Modern Family" is returning on 23 September with season 7, and we will get to see more of the Dunphys and the Pritchetts. The upcoming season will also delve deeper into how Cameron and Mitchell adjust to the significant income cut as a result of Mitch's unemployment. Haley's first adult relationship will also be a focus for the coming episodes.

In season 6 finale, after much deliberation, Mitch (Jesse Taylor Ferguson) revealed to Cam (Eric Stonestreet) that he has been fired from his job. Cam had initially believed that the secret his husband hid from him was an affair, and was relieved to hear about the unemployment.

However, it is said to take a toll on their relationship in season 7, because as fans already know Mitch is a little uptight and set in his ways. He is not used to depending on Cam to bring home the bacon; in fact he sees himself as the responsible one, who has to clean up after Cam every time he does something crazy.

In the coming episodes, however, we will see him going crazy with a lot of free time and not a lot of work on his hands. He picks up uncanny hobbies, even coaching Lily's soccer team, although he has no clue about the game or how it is played.

Meanwhile, his niece Haley (Sarah Hyland), who was sort of the black sheep of the family, is starting to figure things out for herself. She is expected to be in her first adult relationship in season 7. We have already spoken about how Haley might start dating Andy (Adam Devine) in the coming season by disrupting his proposal to his girlfriend and declaring her love for him.

Till date, Haley was shown as a careless teenager who takes no responsibility for her actions, and is only really concerned about her appearance. It will be interesting to see her tackle an adult relationship.
