Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is going from strength to strength. The compact SUV, which hit the market in March 2016, recorded its best sales figures yet in May 2017. The model posted sales of 12,375 units.
Vitara Brezza, rivalling Mahindra TUV 300 and Ford EcoSport, crossed 1.1 lakh units of sales in April this year. With Vitara Brezza at the helm, Maruti Suzuki surpassed the sales of Mahindra and Mahindra as India's largest Utility Vehicle manufacturer for the second consecutive month.
Currently, Vitara Brezza comes powered by a 200 DDis 1248cc diesel engine that develops 88.5bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The SUV boasts of best-in-class fuel efficiency of 24.3 kmpl. Available in LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, ZDi+ and ZDi+ dual tone trims with six colour options, the Vitara Brezza houses features like electrically foldable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, a reverse-parking camera, smartplay infotainment system, cooled glove box, cruise control, projector headlamps and in-built navigation.
Priced in the range of Rs 7.26 lakh to Rs 9.92 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Vitara Brezza still commands a waiting period of around six months, despite the company's effort to ramp up the production. Maruti is also reportedly readying the AMT (Automated manual Transmission) variant and the petrol version of Vitara Brezza, which could hit the Indian market by the end of this financial year.
