Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker's Celerio has reached one lakh sales milestone in India.

Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014 in Noida, Celerio is the first car in India to come with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The petrol model of Celerio is sold with a 998cc, three-cylinder, K10B engine, which can churn out a power of 67bhp at 6,000rpm and a torque of 9.1kgm at 3,500rpm. It is offered in six variants in the country -- two with automatic transmission and four with manual transmission.

Recently, Maruti expanded its Celerio line-up by adding a diesel model. The Celerio diesel also marked the launch of Suzuki's new lightweight 2-cylinder 0.8L E08A diesel engine. Celerio diesel is powered by 793cc, 2-cylinder diesel units and promises a mileage of 27.62kmpl, making it the country's most fuel efficient car. Suzuki's self-developed 793cc; 2-cylinder diesel mill has the capacity to pump out 47bhp and 125Nm of peak torque.

Sharing the delight, RS Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said: "We thank customers for their support to brand Celerio. Celerio is the first car in India to introduce the acclaimed Auto Gear Shift technology and almost one third of the sales are of the Auto Gear Shift variants. Customers appreciated the convenience of automatic gear shifting with no loss in fuel efficiency on Celerio and within a year of its launch Maruti Suzuki's share in the lower hatchback has shot up to 71% from 61%."
