Despite previous reports suggesting Maruti Suzuki's Ciaz sedan will soon get Fiat 1.6 litre diesel engine in India, the emerging reports on the web say that it could take some time before Maruti rolls out its Ciaz sedan with the 1.6L.

A recent Rushlane report, citing Maruti officials claim that the company has no immediate plans to launch its Ciaz with the 1.6L diesel engine, hinting that the engine could make it to the model with its facelifted avatar in the future.

Ciaz is currently powered by 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel engine and 1.4 litre K Series petrol engine. The 1.3 litre diesel mill has the capacity to churn out 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque and the same motor also does duty in Maruti Swift and Ertiga.

Though Ciaz with 1.6-litre diesel engine is not on the card for now, Maruti's upcoming crossover S-Cross will feature the 1.6-litre diesel engines, which will have the capacity to churn out power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm.

Maruti S-Cross is expected to make its market debut in the coming weeks.
