After months of speculations and rumours, Maruti Suzuki has finally pulled the wraps of its highly anticipated Celerio diesel here in India on Wednesday, 3 June.
The new Celerio diesel, India's most fuel efficient car with 27.62kmpl mileage has been priced at ₹4.65 lakh.
Celerio Diesel Variants and Price Details
- LDi: ₹4.65 lakh
- VDi: ₹4.95lakh
- ZDi: ₹5.25 lakh
- ZDi (O): ₹5.71 lakh
The Celerio diesel also debuted the newly developed diesel engine of Maruti Suzuki. Celerio diesel model that has already made numerous appearances on the web through spy shots and videos will be powered by Maruti's self-developed 793cc, 2-cylinder unit.
The engine will be tuned to dish out 47bhp power at 3,500rpm and 125Nm of peak torque at 2,000rpm. The mileage figure of Celerio diesel stand at an ARAI-rated 27.62kmpl, making it India's most fuel-efficient model.
Interestingly, from what we have heard so far, the first diesel engine from the house of Maruti has the capacity to produce higher torque than the Maruti Swift's engine, which is powered by Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine. That is not all, the new engine of Maruti is also reportedly the lightest engine at 89kg available in the country. Notably, the engine noise of Maruti Celerio's diesel engine is in its bearable limit as compared to Swift's diesel engine.
Likely to be available in LDi, VDi and ZDi variants, Celerio diesel is speculated to get a price tag of around ₹60,000-₹80,000 more than the current model. In India, Celerio diesel will be pitted against Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai Grand i10.
