India's largest car-maker by volume, Maruti Suzuki has bagged the top four spots in the list of 10 bestselling cars for the financial year 2015-16. According to the listing compiled by ET Auto, a total of five car from Maruti Suzuki have found a place in the list.

The Alto was Maruti Suzuki's bestselling model in India with 2,63,422 units sold in the last fiscal. However the numbers saw a marginal decline of 0.4 percent compared to 2,64,492 units sold in FY2015. The Swift Dzire family, which includes Dzire Tour for taxi use, was the second-bestselling model. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,99,100 units of the Dzire in FY2016, 4 percent more than in FY2015. The Swift hatchback was in the third spot with 1,95,043 units sold. However, the hatchback's sales saw a decline of 3 percent. Yet another Maruti Suzuki offering, the WagonR, was the fourth bestselling model last fiscal, with 1,69,555 units sold, which was a 5 percent growth from the previous financial year.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) made a significant impact in the period under consideration in terms of product growth. The Korean car-maker's top seller, the Grand i10, found 1,26,181 takers, which was a 27 percent growth over the FY2015 sales. Hyundai's Elite i20 was the sixth bestselling model, with 1,26,028 units sold, which was a 62 percent percent growth — the highest by any car in FY2016.

Maruti Suzuki's Celerio found 87,428 takers in FY2016 and was seventh on the list. Honda's City sedan found 77,548 buyers in FY2016 to come eighth. Hyundai Eon and Honda Amaze filled the last two spots in the top-10 list. Hyundai sold 68,199 units of the Eon while Honda sold 54,594 units of the Amaze.
