Manchester United Transfer News: Ryan Giggs Scouts Exciting Forward as Van Gaal Considers January Bid

Manchester United continue their hunt for players to improve the squad and turn them into a force again, with assistant manager Ryan Giggs switching coaching duties for some scouting in search of the best.

The Manchester United legend was in Turkey last Thursday watching Trabzonspor striker Abdul Majeed Waris in the Europa League game against Lokeren, according to the Daily Mirror.

Waris started that particular fixture, and even if he didn't score, his team Trabzonspor came away with a 2-0 victory.

Manchester United are reportedly keen on the striker after his impressive performances for Ghana and Valenciennes, where he scored nine goals in 16 games last season while on loan from Spartak Moscow.

The 23-year-old only moved to Trabzonspor in the summer transfer window, and it remains to be seen just how much interest Manchester United have in the forward.

After all, if there is one position that Manchester United do not particularly need to strengthen it is their forwardline, even of Waris is an outside forward, who can play in all three advanced positions.

Louis Van Gaal might be keen on bringing in a pacy winger who can chip in a few goals, and for that Waris does fit the bill. But having just moved to Trabzonspor in the summer, it will be interesting to see if Manchester United make a bid in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Juan Mata gave his opinion on the Manchester United vs Chelsea draw in the English Premier League on Sunday.

"As you can imagine, this was a very intense day for me," Mata wrote on his blog. "A Sunday full of emotions because of the big game against Chelsea. Facing them for the first time was special and the match, very even in my opinion, was tense until the last minute.

"I think we did a good first half, but we weren't able to take our chances. In the second half, after Drogba's goal they took control of the game for some time but in the last stage we pushed hard and managed to equalise."

While praising the atmosphere at Old Trafford during the entire 90 minutes, Mata also thanked the Chelsea supporters for the warm reception they gave to their former player.

"As always, the atmosphere in Old Trafford was spectacular," he added. "Your support this season is vital.

"It's worth mentioning the Chelsea fans in Old Trafford -- their affection comforts me and, as I have said so many times, I will always feel grateful to them and to the club. I feel there is mutual respect and this is very important for me in all aspects of life."
