Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra is 99% sure that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford in near future.

This piece of news might excite all the Manchester United fans, but one should not be surprised if Ronaldo does not. Earlier this year, Ronaldo had made a statement that he is happy at Real Madrid and he wants to stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu. He is eager to win more trophies there and give his best for his current club.

Former Manchester United legendary gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson also felt the same about the Portuguese star. When Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012-2013 season, he told Evra that Ronaldo, who joined Real Madrid for £80m in 2009, will return at Carrington.

However, current Red Devils manager Louis Van Gaal has confirmed his interest upon Ronaldo and stated that all the coaches around the world would love to have a player of his stature under them.

"Of course we would look [into possibly making a move to re-sign Ronaldo]. He plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals. I don't think there is a trainer in the world that doesn't like him," Van Gaal was quoted by Mirror.

"We are looking at all players, not just Ronaldo. But these players are mostly ungettable. With Ronaldo, let's wait and hope."

The January transfer window is in the horizon and the clubs in Europe are gearing up to flex their economic muscles to rope in the best players for their sides. The rumours get extra wings during this time and spread thick and fast.

Manchester United have already shelled out a lot of money earlier this year to bring in some heavyweight names at the Old Trafford. It seems that they are not done yet as they have their hands full and are ready to shell out some more. In order to bring Ronaldo back they might just have to pay record-breaking fee and also a record-shattering salary to lure the superstar back at Carrington.
