The January transfer window is on the horizon and as usual all sorts of rumours abound. The teams in the English Premier League (EPL) and other leagues will be flexing their economic muscles to rope in some quality players.

Manchester United has already shelled out a lot of money to bring in some heavyweight players at Old Trafford.

And now, the Red Devils have been linked with the star Welshman and Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale.

Bale, who featured in the El Classico on Saturday, was voted the worst player on the pitch and subsequently rumours started spreading that he is apparently not happy at his current club and he is considering a return to the good old EPL.

Bale has said it out loud that he is happy at Santiago Bernabeu and he would want to stick around. But the former Tottenham Hostpur star did not completely rule out a move to the EPL.

"My plan when I first started playing football was to try to reach the pinnacle -- and Real Madrid is the pinnacle," Bale was quoted as saying by several national dailies.

"Now I'm here, I want to win trophies and to win titles, and just do the best I can for my career. I will never say never when it comes to going back to the Premier League, because you don't know what the future holds. But I am enjoying my time here. I am very happy."

The Welshman has been deployed in the no. 10 position by Rafa Benitez and the former is loving the added responisibility. He also played in the same position against Barcelona during the El Classico but failed miserably.

"I had conversations with Rafa [Benitez] in the summer and I am delighted about where I am going to be playing this season. I like the role behind the striker and feel that's my position. I can drift into areas, find the space and, when I get the ball, attack. It's my best position -- and I think this year is going to be a great season," Bale added.
