Megastar Mammootty met Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday, April 27, to seek the state government's support to those suffering from the rising temperature and water scarcity in Kerala.

"I have called a meeting of all like-minded people who can join us to provide some solace to the sufferers and I wish the state government should also do something," Mammootty told reporters on Wednesday, according to IANS.

Following the meeting with the actor, the chief minister has called all ministers and officials for a meeting on Thursday to discuss measures that could help in handling the environmental issue in the state. He has also cancelled all other programmes scheduled for Thursday. "We are happy that people like Mammootty have come forward, and the government will also take this up and see what best we can do for this," Chandy told reporters.

Meanwhile, temperature of more than 35 degree Celsius was recorded in Palakkad and Kannur on Wednesday and the state weather forecast officials have predicted that the temperature is expected to rise by three to four degrees in the coming days till Saturday. Authorities have also warned people to remain indoors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On the acting career front, Mammootty is currently busy with the shooting of Johny Antony's next "Thoppil Joppan" and is also awaiting the release of Uday Ananthan's "White" opposite Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi and Nithin Renji Panicker's "Kasaba" with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.
