Just a few days stand between the Indian auto lovers and the new Mahindra mini SUV, TUV300. Designed to compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport, TUV300 will be unveiled on 10 September.

The sub-four meter SUV has already made numerous appearances on the web through spy pics and reports. Now in the hours leading upto the official launch, auto buffs at IndianHoods have revealed the engine and variant details of the SUV.

To start with, the powertrain of Mahindra TUV300 will include a 1.5-liter twin-scroll mHawk80 diesel engine, a revised version of Quanto's engine, which is tuned to produce 80 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. According to the report, the transmission in TUV300 will be taken care of by either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT gearbox.

If Mahindra TUV300 gets AMT, the SUV will become the first model in its segment of feature an AMT gearbox.

Mahindra TUV300 is expected to be offered in three variants. The latest report suggests that while the base variant of TUV300 will get features like power steering and air conditioning, the top-end trim will house a touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking camera and alloy wheels.

A report of AutoCar India says that TUV300 will also feature Mahindra's Micro Hybrid technology, which is seen in the company's models like Scorpio. Micro Hybrid technology will help to save fuel by switching off the engine when the vehicle comes to a halt.

Likely to be available in six exterior body shades -- red, white, silver, black, blue and orange, Mahindra TUV300 is expected to carry a price tag in the range of Rs 7 lakh.

The bookings for TUV300 are open at the dealers of Mahindra across the country against a down payment of Rs 20,000.

The company has also announced a TUV300 pre-launch contest.
