The much awaited Mahindra compact SUV, code named S101, will be officially called as the XUV100 in line with the new nomenclature of the manufacturer.

As per a carwale report, Mahindra has registered a new domain name--www.mahindraxuv100.com--specifically for S101 which has confirmed its launch after the TUV300 launch on 10 September and before 2015-end.

The report further indicates that Mahindra is likely to continue with the new alpha-numeric naming strategy for its upcoming SUVs. The first vehicle to use the new naming strategy was XUV500. The forthcoming TUV300 further amplifies utility vehicle major's new nomenclature.

Spied on several occasions before, XUV100 is expected to get 3+3 seating configuration with bench-type seat in the front. The vehicle is likely to include anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and Electronic Stability Programme(ESP).

The sub-four metre compact SUV will be built on a new monocoque platform that will underpin a variety of future Mahindra models. The vehicle is likely to draw power from a range of 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine options which Mahindra is perfecting with testing around the country. The model is also rumoured to be equipped with the AMT variant.

Raised ground clearance and upright stance make XUV100 in the pseudo crossover category in which the first entry will be upcoming Renault Kwid. XUV100 will be positioned below TUV300 in Mahindra's line-up and will be priced around Rs 5 lakh.
