These fans tend to get immensely happy or sad depending on the news that is being put forth by their favourite celebrities. Recently, a particular news that broke the hearts of a lot of fans was the official divorce announcement of Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali. The two popular television actors put out a social media note informing their fans of their decision. Post that, there have been several rumours doing the rounds, and Mahhi took it upon herself to clear the air by putting up a vlog on her YouTube channel.
Mahhi went ahead and put up the first vlog on her YouTube channel after her divorce from Jay after 14 years of marriage. In the vlog, she slammed rumours of alimony she is seeking and also urged netizens to stop spreading fake news.
The actress said, "Yes, I am separated from Jay. We are divorced, but we remain good friends. Hum log dono waise bane hai ki hum dono kaafi peaceful log hain. Hum logon ko drama, jhagde, ladayi ya gandagi pasand nahi hai. Hum dono ne mutually decide kiya ki its better hum log apne apne raaste jaaye (We are both the kind of people who are quite peaceful. We don't like drama, arguments, fights, or negativity. We mutually decided that it's better for us to go our separate ways)."
Talking about the kind of comments that have been coming her way ever since she announced her divorce, Mahhi said, "I read a lot in the comment section, like 'Why did you adopt kids?' or 'Why did you give birth to a child?' Yaar, humara bank account nahi khaali hua hai. Hum bachchon ko dekh sakte hain. Aur aisa nahi hai ki Jay bhaag gaya, ya mere paas kuchh nahi hai. (Our bank account is not empty. We can take care of our children. It's not like Jay ran away, or that I don't have anything)."
She further added, "All three kids will still live the way they have. I think for the kids also it is a great example that if things don't work out, that doesn't mean you make things ugly or drag another person to court. I feel my kids will feel proud of both Jay and me—that it's okay, Mom and Dad decided they didn't want to continue, but they did it in a respectful way."
In the vlog, she clarified that she and Jay will continue to love their children and take equal responsibilities towards them. She mentioned that the divorce does not mean her kids have become orphans, and even Jay's family to date is very much in touch with her and keeps messaging her.
She also mentioned, "In fact, right now, I am seeing a lot of people on Instagram. Don't act with half-knowledge. I'm reading things like 'Mahhi took 5 crore in alimony.' People are pulling out old videos just for likes and comments. It's so sad," she said. She further added that she understands the curiosity, since they are public figures, but urged people not to post anything with half-knowledge. "It's very sad because our parents and kids also see Instagram."
Mahhi added, "No one likes to go through a divorce. There's no drama here. People are saying it's become a joke in this industry. No, it hasn't become a joke in our industry. Divorces are happening outside too. They're happening everywhere. At least we handled it in a nicer way."
The rumours of divorce and parting ways had been doing the rounds for quite some time now. Mahhi and Jay confirmed the news of their divorce only very recently, breaking the hearts of many who would root for them. The two had been married for 14 years.
