Maharashtra: Police sub-inspector arrested for raping minor girl at gunpoint

The victim along with the family had been living on rent at the accused's house where the incident is said to have taken place.

A police sub-inspector has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl at gunpoint in the Osmanabad district of Maharashtra.

Prem Sukhdev Bansode, 26, allegedly raped the victim at gunpoint and threatened her and her family with dire consequences if they disclosed the crime. The victim along with the family had been living on rent at the accused's house where the incident is said to have taken place.

Additional Superintendent of Police Deepali Ghadge told Outlook that the accused, who had been posted at Vishrambaug police station in Sangli district, was arrested late last night after the victim lodged a complaint at Anandnagar police station.

Bansode has been booked under Section 376 of IPC and sections of POCSO Act.
