The Mumbai Indians will look to pile further misery on the Royal Challengers Bangalore when these two heavyweight sides clash at the Wankehde Stadium in IPL 2017 Match 38.

MI are well on their way to the playoffs this season – one more win and they will get to the eight wins – while RCB's season is done as far as trying to make it to the top four is concerned, after scathing defeat after scathing defeat.

Usually, it is the RCB bowling that lets them down over the course of a season, but in IPL 2017 it has been their batting.

Too many times, the soft middle order underbelly has been exposed by the opposition, with RCB relying too heavily on the likes of Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers and Chris Gayle.

Now that the season is over as far as they are concerned, maybe that pressure tap can be turned off and we can see the real RCB, the one everyone loves to see.

Maybe this will be the game that Kohli and Gayle and De Villiers all combine to put up a ridiculous score or chase down a ridiculous target in ridiculous time.

Signs, though, point to this being a rather comfortable outing for the Mumbai Indians, who are the form team and also have a superior head-to-head record over the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In 20 matches, MI have won 12 to RCB's eight, while since 2014, the Mumbai Indians seem to have Royal Challengers Bangalore's number, having won five out of seven.

The Mumbai Indians also won the reverse fixture earlier this season, coming back from 33/5 and a Samuel Badree hat-trick to somehow pick up a win.

That is something RCB have not shown this season – the determination and belief to go for the win, no matter what the situation might be.

MI have plenty of that, and with a batting unit that goes deep and has plenty of quality, they could put the RCB bowlers, who have been good this season, to the sword.

In the bowling, Lasith Malinga showed some form in the last game, and with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan, Harbhajan Singh and Krunal Pandya also playing their roles quite well, RCB are going to have to be at their absolute best to just compete, let alone pick up a win at fortress Wankhede.
