Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" has concluded the first week with superb collection at the Andhra Pradesh and Nizam (AP/N) box office and has become the highest grosser dubbed movie, beating the previous record of Rajini's "Robo".

"Lingaa" released in large number of screens across both the states on 12 December. The movie opened to an earth-shattering response at the ticket counters  with its occupancy ranging between 90% and 100% in both single screens and multiplexes on Friday. The film did record-breaking collection at the AP/N box office on the first day.

The business of "Lingaa" dropped around 20% on Saturday, but the movie witnessed big jump on Sunday. The Rajinikanth, Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty starrer collected approximately ₹14 crore at the AP/N box office in the first weekend and smashed the records of all the dubbed versions of superstars such as Kamal Hassan, Vijay, Ajith and Surya.

"Lingaa" witnessed 50% dip in its collection on Monday and maintained rock-steady on the following days. The movie has raked in ₹6.5 crore at the AP/N box office on the weekdays. The film has collected approximately ₹20.50 from its Telugu version in these two states in the first week of its release.

Rajinikanth's "Robo", which is the Telugu version of his Tamil film "Endhiran", had collected ₹15+ crore at the AP box office its opening week and it was the highest grosser dubbed movie in the states. Several superstars from Kollywood and Bollywood had made attempt to break it, but in vein. Now, Rajini himself has erased this record and set a new benchmark with "Lingaa".

The makers of "Lingaa" have sold the theatrical rights of its Telugu version for a whopping price of ₹25 crore. The movie has been successful in recovering 80% of its investments in the first week. The distributors in these are all happy and hoping that the film will return their investments and also earn them decent amount of profit in the second week.

However, "Lingaa" will have very tough time in its second week as it clashes with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's "PK", which has released in a record number of theatres in both the states on 12 December. It should be seen how the movie will perform in the coming days.
