Lenovo has launched a new edition of Thinkpad Laptop in India. Unlike its siblings, the latest L450 runs on Ubuntu instead of Windows operating system.

ThinkPad L450 feature 14-inch HD display, Intel Core i3 5005U and i5 52000U processors, in addition to 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drives.

''It is very exciting to be working with Lenovo on bringing the Ubuntu Edition of the ThinkPad L450 laptop to commercial customers here in India,'' said Canonical (Ubuntu developer) Regional Director Prakash Advani, "This marks a true stepping stone in our relationship with Lenovo and an extension of our offerings in the Indian marketplace which is one of our key markets for Ubuntu PCs globally. Lenovo has a strong presence amongst large enterprises who are increasingly adopting the Ubuntu OS."

L450 models will come preloaded with Ubuntu 14.04 (the long term support version) that affords support and maintenance for five years from the release date. In addition to long-term support, Ubuntu 14.04 comes with touch-screen enhancements and works on hiDPI monitors.

Lenovo India Managing Director Rahul Agarwal said, "Lenovo's ability to stay ahead of the curve has been built on its strong relationship with its enterprise customers. We are happy about this partnership as our customers in India will now have access to Ubuntu preloaded ThinkPad L450 laptop series. Through this partnership we hope to strengthen our customer relationship by providing multiple OS options and enhance user experience."

ThinkPad L450 laptops will be available for purchase from select commercial re-sellers and distributors at prices starting from ₹40,000. For more information on the device and its specifications, visit Lenovo website.
