In spite of smartphones that come incorporated with high-end cameras, the era of compact camera is not over yet. Perhaps the small footprint, portability and ease of use of compact cameras enable them to stave off competition from smartphones.

Probably keeping this in mind, Sony is set to launch two compact cameras in its CyberShot portfolio, CyberShot RX100 IV and Cybershot RX10 IV,  in Australia and Asia.

Both the RX100 IV and RX10 IV will offers high frame rate snapping experience by offering 960 frames in a span of two seconds. They will also allow clicking slow motion videos and the latest 4K video recording capability.

The Rx10 II packs a 1-inch 20MP sensor based on Stacked Sensor Technology and offers much bigger images with more effective pixels.

The RX100 IV and RX10 IV will also offer rapid shutter speed of 1/32,000 second to help you freeze birds or sport stars in motion.

The actual difference between the models is the featured lens and the aperture. The Cybershot RX10 II packs a 200mm lens with f/2.8 aperture lens, while the RX10 IV features a 24-70mm lens with a varied aperture of f/1.8 to f/2.8.

The low aperture of both the cameras will help users to click better low light and high speed images. While the 200mm lens of RX10 II will offer better telephoto images like sports or wildlife photography, the 24-70mm lens of RX100 IV will offer wide angle, portrait and macro photography options.

Both the cameras will be rolled out in India, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Philippines and Vietnam. The CyberShot RX100 IV and RX10 II will be available for $948 and $1,298 respectively.
