When The Last of Us initially released back in 2013 for the PS3, it was almost instantly tagged as one of the most realistic horror-survival titles ever made – and rightfully so with its moments of horror, tragedy, emotions and faith.

However, it seems like a sequel to it is brewing somewhere behind the closed doors of Naughty Dog, or so it appears after the latest high profile leak. Reports related to The Last of Us 2 were made public "accidentally" by the developers during a livestream focused on the upcoming Nathan Drake Collection.

Brought to light first via a Gamepur report during the livestream, featuring community strategist Eric Monacelli, writer Josh Scherr and lead animator Eric Baldwin, Scherr all but confirmed that a sequel to The Last of Us game is indeed on the way.

"All the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led up by Eric, here," he stated, "and [on] the first The Last of Us. Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?"

While that was not really an official confirmation for the game, if you watch the video (see below) you will notice how anxious Scherr becomes, repeating himself several times and even tripping over his own words. That certainly tells us a thing or two about how Scherr spelt out something he was not supposed to, and later realises that he had slipped up.

However, it is not like this is the first time rumours of The Last of Us 2 have taken the internet by storm. Earlier this year, voice actor Nolan North had claimed The Last of Us 2 is currently under development at Naughty Dog, although Troy Baker (Joel's voice actor) was quick to negate any such theories.
