Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan was at his sarcastic best in his Twitter post on the Congress Party's obsession with the Lalit Modi controversy to corner the ruling BJP at the Centre.

On 14 July, Pawan Kalyan tweeted: "I love Congress! I adore Congress! for their Zeal, for their Fervour, for their Passion to take on BJP Govt.... merely for 'ONE LALIT MODI'Issue than to fight for their Promise to deliver SPECIAL STATUS to 'FiFTY MILLION SEEMANDHRAS.' Hail Congress!"

The Congress had gone on the offensive on the BJP, after the controversy broke out a month ago, criticising external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj for extending help on "humanitarian grounds" to former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, who is being investigated by the Centre for alleged FEMA violations.

Pawan Kalyan was piqued at the Congress for not paying enough attention to the problems of the state and raising them effectively in the Parliament.

He said the party, instead of fulfilling its poll promises to the people of undivided Andhra Pradesh, was indulging in realpolitik by harping on the Lalit Modi controversy.

Pawan Kalyan was upset over the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh by the then Congress-led UPA government last year and was a major factor in the Congress Party's electoral rout in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The division of the state has posed several challenges to Seemandhra. In addition, the people in state have been shattered by natural calamities such as the Hudhud cyclone and drought, resulting in statewide misery.

It may be recalled here that Pawan Kalyan, who founded Jana Sena party in 2014, recently held a press meet where he expressed his anger at Seemandhara MPs for not taking up the issues of the state forcefully in the Parliament.
