Launching a sharp political attack ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah issued a stern warning to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting that the BJP would not allow the construction of a Babri Masjid–like structure in the state if voted to power.
Strong warning at rallies
Addressing rallies in Jalpaiguri and Malda, Shah directly targeted the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that such projects were being politically encouraged. He made it clear that the BJP would stop any such construction if it comes to power in the state.

"Kaan khol kar sunn lo..." remark ( "listen carefully")
In a fiery speech, Shah said: "Kaan khol kar sunn lo Humayun Kabir, koi maai ka laal Babri Masjid nahi bana paayega..."
("Listen carefully, Humayun Kabir, no one—no matter how brave—will be able to build a Babri Masjid.")

Targeting Mamata Banerjee
Shah also warned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government, claiming their "dreams" of allowing such a mosque project would not be fulfilled. He framed the issue as part of a larger ideological and political battle in the state.
Mosque project controversy
The controversy relates to a proposed mosque being built on nearly eight acres of private land, with an estimated cost of ₹86 crore. The foundation stone for the project was laid on December 6, the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, which further intensified the political row.
Elections around the corner
With West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled in two phases on April 23 and April 29, and counting set for May 4, Shah's remarks have added further heat to an already intense electoral battle between the BJP and the TMC.
