In yet another shocking development, it has come to light that a man has allegedly raped his daughter-in-law in Kerala's Kasaragod district.

The 25-year-old woman, whose husband is working abroad, is now 3-month pregnant. The incident came to light after she filed a complaint at the Badiyadukka police station.

A report suggests that she was raped by her 60-year-old father-in-law in February this year, while they were alone at home.

Following the complaint, the woman has been admitted to Kasaragod General Hospital for further check-up. Kasaragod Circle Inspector PK Sudhakaran will investigate the case.

The number of crimes against women and children in Kerala has increased in the past five years, according to statistics provided by the state police.

Since 2008, more than 6,425 women and children were reportedly raped in the South Indian state. Apart from this, more than 24,431 molestation and 2,992 sexual harassment cases were also registered.

In 2015 alone, 335 women and 184 children were raped in the state till March.
