Kartik Aaryan's Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, co-starring Ananya Panday, released on Christmas, while Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, which hit screens on December 5, 2025, has already created a box office storm. Amid the massive buzz around Dhurandhar, Kartik Aaryan's film tanked at the box office. As Dhurandhar continues its strong run, Kartik's recent social media activity caught everyone's attention.
On Monday, screenplay writer Saurabh Bharat praised Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri on Instagram, writing, "It's so heartwarming to see that amidst the madness of hyper-masculinity and testosterone-boasting action films, someone is making a breezy, progressive film. Congratulations for building a genre of cinema which entertains yet pushes the envelope deep into society." Kartik Aaryan re-shared the note with a red heart emoji.
However, the actor deleted the post within a few hours after several social media users began speculating whether it was a dig at Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar.
Meanwhile, at the launch of Anupama Chopra's book Dining With Stars, Aditya Dhar spoke highly of Dhurandhar. He said, "I was blown away by Dhurandhar. It makes you feel like, 'Oh, my craft is limited. Oh my God, look at the use of background music.' What I loved was that I didn't feel the director was self-aware. He wasn't trying to show off his craft, and yet he was seamlessly telling the story."
He added, "I never felt he went wide just to show a great frame. It was beautifully shot without self-consciousness. It made me question my ability as a filmmaker, and that's always a good thing. I look at that positively. I began the year loving Saiyaara and ended it loving Dhurandhar. I loved Lokah too, went mad watching it."
A few days ago, the filmmaker also reviewed Dhurandhar on social media. Sharing the film's poster, he wrote, "Outstanding." He further added, "So much respect for Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh and Sashwat Sachdeva (my favourite Ranveer Singh performance). Congratulations to the entire cast and crew."

Film critic Taran Adarsh later revealed that, ahead of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri's release, he had urged the makers to postpone the film.
"Five days before the release, I called Dharma Productions' team and requested them to postpone it. I told them, 'There's a strong Dhurandhar wave. You still have time. Even if you get screens, you won't get the audience,'" Taran said.
"When I saw the film, I told Kartik Aaryan that he made a mistake by releasing it amid the Dhurandhar wave. I strongly feel that when a film unleashes a tsunami, it's best to shift to another date. There should be no ego at all," he added, as quoted by Bollywood Hungama.
On Day 5, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, saw a major drop, earning just Rs 1.11 crore on its first Monday.
In contrast, Dhurandhar earned Rs 6.44 crore on its 25th day, its fourth Monday, underlining the significant gap between the two films' box office performances.
