Bengaluru based technology firm, Karbonn Mobiles has released a budget phablet dubbed as Titanium S9 Lite in India via online stores.

The new Karbonn handset is touted as the low-cost variant of the company's flagship Titanium S9, which was launched in July last year. It features 5.5-inch qHD screen with 940x560p resolution, 1.3GHz quad-core processor (probably MediaTek), 512MB RAM, 4GB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32GB) and a 2100 mAh battery.

Priced just under ₹9,000, the entry-level phablet also boasts of 8.0-megapixel primary camera, 2.0-megapixel snapper on the front for video chatting and on connectivity front, it features 3G network support, dual-SIM slots, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and GPS for navigation.

Competition:

Karbonn Titanium S9 Lite has been made available at e-commerce site Snapdeal for ₹8,990. It will be up against the domestic brand leader, Micromax, which also offers similar phablet device Canvas Doodle 3. [For more information, click here]

Last week (on 13 June), the Bengaluru based company launched the Karbonn A50s for just ₹2,790, which is India's cheapest Android smartphone. The feature-rich devices sports a 3.5 HVGA (320x480p) TFT LCD screen, dual-core CPU, 256MB RAM, 512MB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32GB), a 2.0-megapixel main camera, a VGA camera on front, a 1100 mAh and ships with Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box. It has been made available exclusively at e-commerce website Flipkart.

On the very same day, another domestic brand, Celkon upped the ante by unveiling a similar low-cost Android phone Campus A35K with latest KitKat OS. It sports a 3.5-inch HVGA screen, 1GHz CPU, 256MB RAM, 512MB inbuilt storage, 3.2-megapixel main camera, 0.3-megapixel (VGA) snapper on the front and a 1400 mAh battery.

The ongoing price-war among the local vendors is attributed to the overwhelming response received by the Motorola Moto E. Boasting top-of-the-line value added features like Gorilla Glass 3 shield, water-resistant coating and snapdragon chipset; it raised the bar in the highly competitive budget smartphone sector in India. The company reportedly sold a record 2.85 lac units since its release on 14 May.
