Karan Johar calls himself Yami Gautam 'fan' after Haq; netizens try to decode hidden motive

Yami Gautam's performance in the latest release—Haq—has made critics praise her with a big round of applause. The actress has shot back to fame by giving another hard-hitting performance along with Emraan Hashmi in the film based on triple talaq. After an average run in theaters, Haq landed on Netflix, and Bollywood celebs have been going gaga over it.

After Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar has also written a lengthy post praising the film and calling himself a "Yami Gautam fan for life."

"HAQ...The Shazia Bano story and victory moved me to a puddle of tears... I was speechless at the end and then clapped loudly for the film and lamented that I missed the opportunity of watching this exceptionally empowering film in the cinema," he wrote.

"I don't think I have been this moved by a performance in many, many years... to say that Yami Gautam is brilliant, outstanding, and pathbreaking is still not saying enough.... Her silences, her stares, her last monologue, and her stance throughout the film is a master class of craft and conviction.... Salute and Salaam to her!"

In his lengthy post, KJo went on to praise Emraan Hashmi, the film's director, and many more. He concluded the post with "Yami.... Am a fan for life! (heart emoji)."

The Dharma honcho might have showered his love on the film, but Reddit users were not ready to take this lightly. From accusing him of bootlicking those who rise to success and ignoring talents in early stages of their careers, Reddit was at it.

Let's take a look. "Karan has gotten into his head that he is a Starmaker after Alia... He keeps trying to replicate the model.... But the truth is that Dharma's whole success was built on actors who were already stars before his movie," a user wrote.

"If he was a starmaker, he'd invite talented newcomers that aren't yet famous onto his show and put them in his films lol," another user commented.

"Hrithik was also the only person to support Yami when she wrote against the forced negativity and extortionist critics before the film release. He didn't wait for the film to become a success like others to show support," read a comment.
