Kannada superstar Upendra has reacted to the recent comments made by Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan over the growing intolerance in India. The director-turned-actor has said on Twitter that he has lost all the admiration for the Bollywood superstars.

"Dear @aamir_khan, you were one of the heroes whom I admired, if there is any intolerance as a hero you need to stand-up and try resolve it," Upendra posted on Twitter. The Real star claimed that he should face the situation rather than leaving the country like a coward.

He wrote, "But if you runaway from it then you will be known as a coward, regret to say @aamir_khan, you are no longer a hero for me n many other fans. Bringing the Shahrukh Khan's comment to the debate, Uppi concluded, "Don't worry Aamir n Shahrukh Khan, your next movie will be superhit !!! Indians will prove how tolerant they are & you very well know it !!!"

In the recent months, the debate on intolerance in India has gained momentum with writers returning their awards as their protest against the government's failure in protecting the freedom of speech and attacks on minorities.

Their campaign got a boost when Shah Rukh Khan claimed that there is extreme intolerance in India. On Monday, 23 November, Aamir Khan said that he was worried about the growing intolerance in the nation.

He went a step further and added, "My wife and I have lived all our lives in India. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India? That's a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make to me. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers everyday. That does indicate that there is a sense of growing disquiet."
