Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (4 May) addressed party workers at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi following the party's strong electoral performance.
The BJP secured a decisive win in West Bengal, retained Assam for a third consecutive term, ensured the NDA's return in Puducherry, and delivered a competitive showing in southern states including Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
In his address, Modi paid tribute to party workers who, he said, "sacrificed their lives" for the party's victory in Bengal. He also launched sharp attacks on the Congress, the TMC, and the Left, while urging West Bengal to move beyond its culture of political violence.
The speech reflected an ambitious tone, with Modi invoking the journey of the Ganga — from Uttarakhand to West Bengal — as a metaphor for the BJP's expanding geographic footprint. He framed the results as a validation not only of the party's efforts but also of India's democracy and Constitution.
According to trends, the BJP has crossed the halfway mark in West Bengal, leading in 205 seats. In Assam, the party is ahead in 101 of 126 seats. In Puducherry, the NDA alliance is set to retain power, leading in 17 of 30 seats.
