A man's body resembling one of the suspected murderers of Kannada rationalist Malleshappa M Kalburgi was found in Belgaum district of Karnataka on Wednesday, reports said.

About two weeks ago, the Belgaum police found the body of a man, which resembled the sketch of Kalburgi murderer released about two months ago, according to reports.

"First, we have to identify the body. We have released his image to all the media and the police. Until now, we have no concrete evidence to link this man with any murder, let alone Kalburgi's murder," The News Minute quoted Belagavi SP Ravikanthe Gowda as saying.

The sketches of the two suspected shooters, which were drawn based on the inputs from CCTV footage and description by eyewitnesses, were released on 2 September.

MM Kalburgi, the former vice-chancellor of Kannada University in Hampi, was shot dead by two unidentified men on 30 August at his Kalyan Nagar residence in Dharwad district, 430km north of Karnataka capital Bengaluru.
