Many social media users had recently alleged that Malayalam actor Sabumon Abdusamad, a known face to the Kerala audience for his television shows "Tharikida" and "Take it Easy," had given spurious liquor to late actor Kalabhavan Mani, who recently passed away due to liver-related ailments.

Since Thursday morning, reports surfaced stating that Sabu had visited Mani's house a day before his death and many social media users were quick to come up with stories that suggested Sabu had something to do with the sudden demise of the versatile actor. However, Sabu has now come forward reacting to the issue and has said that people are targeting him based on fake reports. He has also filed a complaint at the Kayamkulam police station for spreading false rumours about him.

"It's true that I had visited Mani chettan a day before his death, but I didn't buy him alcohol nor did he drink when I was there. Since I had to attend a function at Mar Ivanios College the next day, I left at around 11 p.m. and Jaffer Idukki and some other friends were still there with him. Reports also claim that I am an absconder. I am still at my home in Kayamkulam and I was not questioned by the police officers in connection with Mani chettan's death as they were convinced with the statements of Jaffer, Peter and others," Sabu told Manorama Online.

Sabu has also clarified about his close relationship with Mani. "We were good friends and I have never had any issue with Mani chettan, else I would not have visited him that day. There are also some fake reports that suggest that the movie I was planning to produce was dropped because of him," Sabu added.

The Tv personality has also said that he will attack the one who spread the fake news about him. "If I get the one who created these baseless allegations against me, I know how to deal with him and all cases that come later. I think somebody in Dubai have done it as I got many calls from there. If I find him, let it be any one, I will go to his house and attack him. Only later, I will give him to the police," Sabu said.

Meanwhile, Sabu was earlier also targeted by social media users for purportedly insulting superstar Mohanlal as well as his father, while stating his opinion on the increasing stray dog attacks in Kerala.
