Intense firing and mortar shelling by Pakistani Rangers at eight border outposts (BoPs) including a few villages around Jammu's international border injured one on Sunday night.

"Pakistani Rangers resorted to small arms firing and mortar shelling along IB in RS Pura sector of Jammu district since 2200 hours last night," PTI quoted a BSF offical as saying.

Around eight BoPs and selective villages were under attack by the Pakistani Rangers who not only fired gunshots but also used 81mm mortar shells to attack the Indian side.

The individual who has been injured in the attack has been identified as Khadim Hussain of the Jora Farm village of Jammu. Hussain sustained minor injuries from the splinter of the mortar shells.

In retaliation, the BSF jawans fired at the Pakistani Rangers and this exchange went on for a while.

This is the third ceasefire violation in the month of February.

In January, Pakistan had violated the ceasefire several times in which four people lost their lives while seven individuals were injured.
