Dubai-based Emirates airline has bagged No.1 position as the most popular brand in the UAE for the second consecutive year, according to a mid-year best brand ranking which is published every year by market research firm YouGov. The rankings, which were published in 26 countries, including Saudi Arabia and Egypt, are compiled using the Buzz score.

Residents are asked by Buzz if they have heard anything positive or negative about a brand during the last two weeks either through advertising, news or word-of-mouth. Emirates has continued to create the highest brand buzz among more than 400 brands in the UAE this year alone, according to YouGov.

Some of the other brands which retained the top slots are WhatsApp, Samsung, Facebook, Apple, YouTube, Emaar, Google and Eithad.

In 2015, the airline's marketing campaign, which featured popular Hollywood celebrity Jennifer Aniston, caused the airline to jump at the top slot of the annual BrandIndex ranking.

According to a survey conducted by Skytrax, Emirates airline was named the world's best airline for 2016. The airline additionally won awards for the best in-flight entertainment for a 12th consecutive year and the best airline across the Middle East, CNN reported.

In Saudi Arabia ranking as well, Emirates retained the ninth position as the best Middle Eastern brand.

Emirates airline began its operations in 1985. Today the carrier has one of the world's biggest aircraft fleet of Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s (almost 230 aircraft). The airline flies to 150 destinations in 80 countries across the globe. Over 1,500 Emirates flights depart every week from Dubai to destinations in six continents.
