Junior NTR's "Janatha Garage" kept the cash registers ringing at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office in its second weekend. Its distributors' earnings inched closer to Rs. 50 crore on the second Saturday.
Having received superb opening, "Janatha Garage" grossed Rs 67.80 crore at the AP/T box office in its eight-day extended first week. The movie was expected to continue to rock the ticket counters and surpass the Rs 75 crore mark in the Telugu speaking states in its second weekend. But the film suffered severe setback at the box office due to new releases.
New releases "Inkokkadu," "Jyo Achyutananda," "Baar Baar Dekho" and "Freaky Ali" forced "Janatha Garage" out of some cinemas across both the states. They also took a toll on its business, by becoming the first choice for a large number of audience this weekend.
The Junior NTR and Mohanlal starrer had a steep decline of over 90 percent on its second Friday, when compared to its opening day collection. The movie showed some amount of growth on the following days, but it was not up to the expected mark.
As per estimates, "Janatha Garage" has collected approximately Rs. 7.25 crore gross at the AP/T box office in its second weekend and its 11-day total gross collection has reached Rs. 75.05 crore.
"Janatha Garage" earned approximately Rs. 3.9 crore for its AP/T distributors in its second weekend. The 11-day total share of distributors has reached Rs. 50.45 crore in the Telugu-speaking states. It has become the first film for Junior NTR to cross Rs. 50 crore mark on in these states.
