Nikhil Kumar's debut movie Jaguar, which was released on Thursday, October 6, has opened to mixed reviews. But the movie has registered a fantastic opening in Karnataka. It has also got a good start in Andhra Pradesh as well.

Jaguar is the launchpad of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's grandson and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy's son, Nikhil Kumar. The movie has been simultaneously made in Kannada and Telugu languages.

The makers have left no stone unturned to make Jaguar the talk of the town. As a result, the movie has opened to a flying start. "Although Nikhil is a newcomer, people were curious to see his first film as he belongs to a powerful political family in Karnataka. So, the film has got a good start at the box office," an industry insider told International Business Times, India.

Jaguar has been released in over 200 screens in Karnataka. The advance booking had met with a good response, which was an indication of the film doing a good business on its first day at the box office. Early estimation coming from trade experts say that the flick has collected over Rs 3 crore on its first day.

Meanwhile, Jaguar has met with mixed reviews although critics have praised Nikhil Kumar's performance in unison. It has to be seen how the movie will perform in the coming days, given the fact that Yogaraj Bhat's Dana Kayonu and Prakash Raj's idolle Ramayana are hitting the screens on Friday, October 7.

Jaguar has been directed by debutant Mahadev and produced by HD Kumaraswamy under his home banner of Channambika Films. The story and screenplay have been written by Vijayendra Prasad, the father of leading South Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli.

The movie has Mumbai-based model Deepti Sati playing the female lead role. Brahmanadam, Jagapathi Babu, Sadhu Kokila, Sampath Raj and many others play significant roles in the movie. The film features SS Thaman's music and Manoj Paramahamsa's cinematography.
