Jaguar movie review round-up: Nikhil Gowda-Deepti Sati's film gets mixed response from Telugu critics, audience

Director A Mahadev's movie Jaguar featuring newbies Nikhil Gowda and Deepti Sati in the lead roles has received mixed reviews and average ratings from Telugu critics and viewers.

Jaguar had created a huge buzz for various reasons. The film marks the debut of Nikhil Gowda, who is the grandson of former Indian Prime Minister Deve Gowda. The action entertainer, which has some big names associated with it, hit the screens today, October 6.

The film features Krishna (Nikhil) as a medical college student, who, disguised as Jaguar, targets and kills high-profile businessmen from the medical field. A CBI officer (Jagapathi Babu) is assigned with the job of nabbing Krishna. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

Vijendra Prasad has written the script for Jaguar, which is a routine revenge drama. The first half of the movie is engaging and entertaining, but the second half drags at a slow pace. Bankrolled by Anitha Kumaraswamy, the movie has rich production values. Music, picturisation and choreography of action and dance sequences are the attractions on the technical front, say critics and viewers.

Nikhil Gowda, who has made his acting debut with the film, has delivered a good performance, which is the highlight of the film. He has impressed the audience in the dance and fight sequences. Sampath, Jagapathi Babu, Adarsh Balakrishna, Ramya Krishna and Rao Ramesh have also done justice to their roles.

On the whole, Jaguar has a very interesting plot which has been let down by the lack luster second half. Superb production values and some decent thrills are basic assets of this pakka commerical formula film. Now that there is heavy competition for Dussera, it would be really interesting to see how this below average action entertainer fares at the box office.
