Here is some exciting news for Salman Khan fans.

After months of speculations, it has been confirmed that Salman will do Karan Johar's "Shhuddhi." The film is expected to hit the screens for Diwali 2016. The news has been confirmed by Karan Johar on his Twitter handle.

"Shhuddhi" has been in the news ever since the project was teased. It was announced that Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor will do the film, to be directed by Karan Malhotra of "Agneepath" fame. However, the production got delayed, and eventually Roshan opted out the project. Later, Kareena also backed out of the film.

Since then speculations about who would do the lead role were doing the rounds in media circles. Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan's names were associated with the project. There were also some reports claiming that the film has been shelved.

Now, it has been confirmed that "Shhuddhi" is still on and Salman will be playing the lead role in the film.

Talking about his upcoming films, Salman told a source close to Koimoi, "Yes I am doing a film with Karan and that I guess is 'Shhuddhi' only. Then I am doing a film with Aditya Chopra and also with Kabir Khan. I am also doing a film with Boney Kapoor and another one with Mahesh Majrekar. 'No Entry Mein Entry' is starting soon."

Earlier, it was reported that Kareena Kapoor will play the female lead opposite Salman Khan. However, the makers are yet to officially announce the leading lady of the film. Details about the other cast and crew members are also not revealed yet.

It will be the second time, Salman will be doing a film with Karan Johar. Earlier, they worked together in the 1998 blockbuster flick "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" in which he did a guest appearance. After nearly 16 years, the duo is teaming up for a film and this time the actor will be playing the lead role. 

The actor is currently busy promoting his upcoming film "Kick." The action-comedy entertainer directed by Sajid Nadiadwala is all set to hit the screens on 25 July, in time for Ramzan. The film is the remake of the Telugu hit flick of the same name. Salman will be appearing in the role of a thief named Devil. Jacqueline Fernandez, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saurabh Shukla are also part of the film's cast. "Kick" is presumed to take fantastic openings upon its release.
