When it comes to Marvel movies, Robert Downey Jr.'s name tops the list of those actors who have breathed life into the characters. From films like Iron Man, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War, Robert Downey Jr. has proved that there is no one better than him who can portray the role of billionaire Tony Stark. However, it looks like his time is coming to an end with the studio and Avengers: Endgame will be the last feature film when he will be playing the role of Earth's mightiest hero.

Avengers: Endgame will mark the end of Marvel's phase 4 and the studio is going to be releasing films like Spider-Man: Far from Home, Fantastic Four, Untitled Black Panther sequel, and Untitled Dr. Strange sequel. However, there is no report of Iron Man getting a fourth movie and the reason is as shocking as the climax scene of Avengers: Infinity War.

For almost a decade, Robert Downey Jr. has dedicated his sweat and blood to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while appearing in over nine superhero movies. But it looks like Robert Downey Jr.'s contract with Marvel is coming to an end and chances of them renewing it again are pretty slim.

Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. has been very vocal about his Marvel character. Fans have been eagerly hoping to get confirmed news of Iron Man 4 and Downey Jr. once made a comment about the future of his involvement as Tony Stark in Marvel Cinematic Universe. After getting asked about Iron Man 4, he once told reporters, "I'm sure we'll ride that thing. You've got to surf that all the way into shore."

At the same time, during one of his appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he somehow confirmed the status of Iron Man 4. When Ellen pushed him to spill the details, he stated: "I know there's going to be more Marvel movies, and they have big ideas of how to do it best," while adding that they are in a middle of a negotiation.

If Tony Stark/Iron Man will die in Avengers: Endgame, then it will surely be as shocking as seeing Eddard Stark's death in Game of Thrones but at the same time, Downey Jr. has been portraying the same character from the last one decade and if he wishes to drop his iron suit, then it will surely be understandable — hurtful but fans will look for another rising sun.

Robert Downey Jr. will feature as Iron Man for at least one more time in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, which is slated to release on April 26, 2019.
