Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) on Monday claimed it had carried out fresh strikes on US military facilities in Kuwait, while the United States confirmed the death of one service member in Iraq, marking another escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two countries across West Asia.
In a statement carried by Iran's official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the IRGC said it targeted a US early-warning radar system and several military facilities at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. According to the IRGC, the radar system was "completely destroyed" in a drone strike, while a warehouse housing aviation equipment, spare parts and a drone hangar was also hit, setting several drones ablaze.
The IRGC also urged the people of Kuwait not to allow their country's territory to be used as a base for US military operations, claiming that American forces had carried out attacks across several Muslim-majority countries over the years.
On Sunday, the IRGC claimed it had also shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over Ahvaz using an advanced air defence system operated by the IRGC Aerospace Force under Iran's integrated air defence network. The claim came as Iran continued what it described as retaliatory operations against US military targets in the region.
Iranian military officials also issued fresh warnings to Washington. Commander of the central Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, Major General Ali Abdollahi, said Iran's Armed Forces would deliver a "decisive and destructive" response to any further US aggression. He accused the United States of attempting to create divisions within Iran after repeated military setbacks and said the country's defensive capabilities remained the cornerstone of its national security.
The latest claims follow the IRGC's announcement on Saturday that it had attacked a US base in Jordan, targeted a fuel supply dock in Kuwait and destroyed a data centre in Bahrain as part of its expanding retaliatory campaign.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that one American service member was killed in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance recovered from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. A second service member sustained minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment.
Separately, CENTCOM said US personnel recovered unidentified human remains in Jordan after previously announcing the deaths of two US service members and one missing service member following an Iranian attack. The identification process is currently underway, and authorities said the identities of the casualties are being withheld until their families are notified.
CENTCOM also said US forces had redirected six commercial vessels and disabled another as part of ongoing naval blockade operations against Iran, underscoring the widening scope of the military confrontation across the region.
