Australia opener Aaron Finch looks set to miss the remainder of the IPL season for Mumbai IndiansReuters

Things could not have gotten worse for Mumbai Indians, who are yet to win an IPL game this season. The team has received a major blow with Australian batsman Aaron Finch most likely being ruled out of the cash rich T20 tournament due to a hamstring injury.

Mumbai Indians opener looked in extreme pain after completing a quick single against Rajasthan Royals in their last game on Tuesday. The batsman was on the floor after completing the run and had to be carried off with the help of the Mumbai Indian staff to the dugout.

Finch did not come out to bat later as well.

Rohit Sharma during the post match interview stated that Finch did not look good and would go for a scan. He underwent a scan on Wednesday.

The Australian must also have been excited to perform in the IPL, but the player has been left disappointed with his scan results.

He also tweeted about it.

Since being picked up in the IPL 2015 auction by the Mumbai Indians, Finch has not been able to score enough runs for Rohit Sharma led side. He has scored a total of 23 runs in his three innings, which is not what the team had expected from the Australian when they signed him.

Despite the poor batting standard, Finch will be sorely missed by the franchise, as he is one of the most explosive openers in world cricket. He is too good a player to remain out of form for long.

The Mumbai Indians will be disheartened with the scan results, but they have some other players in their ranks as well, who could replace the Australian. Lendl Simmons is one of the frontrunner to replace the batsman in top of the order.

The West Indies batsman was one of the success stories for Mumbai Indians last season as he amassed 394 runs, which also included a century. Simmons would be eager to grab this opportunity with both hands and replicate last season's performance, which could cement his place in the side as well.

The Mumbai Indians need someone to take charge in the top of the batting order and Simmons could be the right player to deliver the goods and hand Mumbai Indians their first victory of IPL 2015.
