A glitzy opening ceremony has been planned to kick start the eighth season of Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL).

Stars from Bollywood will be heating up the stage at the Salt Lake Stadium on Tuesday, 7 April. Earlier, the Kolkatans witnessed international star Pitbull performing alongside Shah Rukh khan, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif.  

This year the 'City of Joy' will witness Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and his band and Pritam and his band in action, increasing the glamour quotient of this entertaining tournament.

'Chote Nawab' Saif Ali Khan will host the two-hour event. Although there is no confirmation on whether Shah Rukh Khan too will shake a leg alongside the other stars or not, fans can be assured that there will be an unmatchable energy flowing through the stadium that night.

The captains of all the eight teams will be present at the event to take the MCC Spirit of Cricket pledge reaffirming the values in IPL's commitment to the Spirit of Cricket, reported iplt20.com. According to a press release from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the captain of the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gautam Gambhir will put back the IPL trophy marking the start to the eighth edition of this tournament.

The event starts at 7:30 pm and the gates will open at 5:00 pm for the public. Tickets for the event are available on iplt20.com and bookmyshow.com. This glam night will be aired on Sony Six and Sony Max and will also be live streamed on Hotstar mobile application.
