4:50pm: Washington Sundar strikes in his first match. The off-spinner disturbs Lahiru Thirimanne stumps to show him the way back to the pavilion.

SL 66/3, 15.4 overs

4:15: Bumrah also gets his man. The pacer sends back Danushka Gunathilaka, who is caught by Dhoni.

SL 30/2, 7.3 overs

4:10: India bowlers have been tidy, and Hardik Pandya has got India an early breakthrough, dismissing Upul Tharanga for 7 runs.

SL 26/1, 6 overs

3pm: India have ended their first innings with a mammoth total of 392 runs, all thanks to Rohit, who scored his third double hundred. He is the first batsman to have ever achieve this feat in world cricket.

Besides Rohit, Iyer and Shikhar played their hand, with both the players scoring half-centuries as well. Rohit remained unbeaten on 208 runs.

India 392/4 , 50 overs

2:51: Now, MS Dhoni, after just one six and a single, heads back to the pavilion as he is trapped leg before wicket.  But, Rohit is still going strong and could well score his third double hundred.

India 354/3, 47.3

2:37: OUT! Iyer is gone for an amazing 88 runs.

India 328/2, 45.3 overs

2:33: It is raining sixes in Mumbai. India cricket Hitman is dealing in sixes only, and Rohit has also completed his 150 runs. Iyer, at the other end, has been scoring runs at a good rate too.

India 321/1, 45 overs.

2:12: Rohit has gone past his his 100, and India are in a comfortbale position with Shreyas Iyer changing gears as well. India could well end up with more than 340 runs if these two players are in the middle for a longer duration.

India 256/1, 41 overs.

1.47 PM: India cross the 200-run mark, Rohit (92) nears century. 204/1 in 35 overs.

1.19: Rohit (62) and Shreyas Iyer (24) going strong. India 157/1 in 28 overs. Looking good for a score in excess of 300.

12.58: OUT - End of a fine knock. Shikhar Dhawan (68) caught by Thirimanne off Pathirana. India 115/1 in 21.1 overs.

12:52: Rohit has also completed his half-century. India are cantering along and Sri Lanka batsmen are helpless. Both Rohit and Shikhar has also completed 100-run partnership, providing a solid platform for the other plaayers to follow.

India 115/0, 21 overs

12:31: Shikhar is turning it on. After a cautious approach, the left-hander is taking the attack to the opposition, dealing in boundaries. He has completed his 23rd ODI fifty - well compiled innings.

India 75/0, 15 overs

12:13: There is a conscious effort from the India openers, who are playing the ball as per merit. India might not have scored freely, but that should not be a problem as Shikhar and Rohit can change gears quickly.

India 33/0, 10 overs

11:56: There is something for the bowlers, but India batsmen have faired well so far. Shikhar has looked better, and with Lakmal going wicketless in the first three overs, it can be said, India are much prepared for the Lankan bowlers as their positive approach says so.

India 26/0, 6 overs

11:41: India have started their innings on a better note. Rohit played out a first over maiden while Shikhar got the ball rolling with a majestic drive for a four.

India 6/0, 2 overs.

Sri Lanka have won the toss and, as expected, will bowl first in the second ODI at PCA stadium in Mohali.

With India batting first, as Rohit said during the toss, their batsmen will have to change their mindset and apply themselves.

There is some grass on the surface, and one can expect the bowlers to make the new white ball talk and trouble the batsmen. Will India be able to cope with Lakmal's swing?

Sri Lanka have not made any changes in the playing XI from their last game while India have handed a debut to Washington Sundar, who has replaced Kuldeep Yadav.
