England's frontline pacer James Anderson bagged some headlines in the fourth Test match against India, as he criticised double centurion Virat Kohli, stating that his technical flaws are covered up by home conditions. That caught many by surprise, especially with Anderson being a respected cricketer. But this comment, as it seems, did not go down well with former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who took a dig at Anderson.

Kohli has been one of the best cricketers, irrespective of the format, in world cricket at present, scoring runs in all corners of the globe. Kohli proved his dominance with the bat, scoring a splendid double ton in the fourth Test, which helped India defeat England in Mumbai.

The English bowlers were successful against Kohli in England, but his batting has since taken an upward climb, including an improvement in technique and all other stuff to elevate his batting skills, which has helped him dominate England in this series.

The India skipper has been in sensational form in this series, scoring 640 runs in the four matches so far. Inzamam came out in support of Kohli, and said that Test runs are runs wherever you score at the international level. In fact, the Pakistani criticised Andesrson pointing towards his performances in India.

"It is surprising to me that Anderson should question Kohli's runs and ability because I haven't seen him take too many wickets in India. Does Anderson mean to say that if you get runs in England you get some sort of certificate that makes you a quality batsman," Inzamam said on the Geo Super sports channel.

"Don't the English and Australian players struggle when they play in the sub-continent? Does that mean they are bad players or weak teams? To me, it does not matter where you get runs because in Test matches runs are runs," he added.

The former Pakistan captain-turned-chief selector in fact praised Kohli for his splendid batting.

"He is a quality player and when he is getting runs his team does well. That is important to judge or classify a batsman's value. There is hunger in him for runs," Inzamam said.
