India are heading into the five-Test series with a lot of optimism, considering their recent performances on the road.

Virat Kohli's men won praise for playing fearless cricket in South Africa earlier this year. Despite losing the hard-fought series 2-1, the number one-ranked side had a lot of positives to take from the tour.

India's record in England is far from impressive. They have managed to win only six matches from a total of 57 they have played in the Old Blighty over the years.

However, with new-found balance and experienced campaigners, Kohli's men are expected to help improve the record.

On the other hand, hosts England are heading into the series under considerable pressure, given they haven't managed to win any of their last three series — 4-0 defeat to Australia in last year's Ashes, 1-0 defeat in New Zealand, and a 1-1 draw against Pakistan at home.
