Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo on Tuesday, highlighting India's push to deepen strategic and economic ties with Nordic nations. Sharing details on X, PM Modi said the summit reflected the "growing depth and dynamism" of India's partnership with the Nordic region. Discussions focused on sustainability, innovation, clean energy, emerging technologies, and strengthening cooperation for a peaceful and prosperous future.

The summit brought together leaders from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden to chart a collaborative roadmap for future growth, with emphasis on environmental stewardship and technological cooperation. PM Modi said India and the Nordic countries are united by shared democratic values, trust, and a commitment to human-centric development.

Ahead of the summit discussions, PM Modi held bilateral meetings with Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The meetings focused on trade expansion, climate action, green technology, digitalisation, and emerging technologies.

During talks with Iceland, both leaders explored cooperation in renewable energy, carbon management, sustainable fishing, Blue Economy sectors, innovation, digital technologies, Arctic cooperation, and people-to-people ties. PM Modi also expressed hope that the India-EFTA TEPA would strengthen trade and investment linkages.

In discussions with Finland, the two leaders explored partnerships in artificial intelligence, 5G and 6G networks, quantum technologies, and circular economy models, while also stressing the importance of the early implementation of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement.

PM Modi's meeting with Denmark focused on strengthening the green strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation in sustainability and digital transformation. The Nordic nations, with a combined economy exceeding USD 1.9 trillion, are regarded as global leaders in green transition and innovation.

The Prime Minister arrived in Norway from Sweden as part of his five-nation tour covering the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy from May 15-20. He is scheduled to visit Italy next for the final leg of the trip.
